Ecolife Basecamp: Ecolife Basecamp

Ecolife Basecamp: Ecolife Basecamp: "Looking for a weekend escapade? If you are looking for sleeping bag escapade just 2 hours drive from KL and wants to be with nature ..."

Starry, starry nite...

It makes sense to make your base at Ecolife basecamp in Pos Betau the next time you plan to go to Cameron Highland for a holiday. Ringlet town, Cameron Highland is just a mere 45-min's drive from the basecamp via a new uncongested & unknown highway to touristy Cameron Highland. Another 15 mins will land you in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands. Compared to the old Tapah winding road, this route is a breeze.

The highway is lined with spectacular views of the Main Range (Banjaran Titiwangsa), Semai tribe villages (complete with solar panel roofing!) & acres and acres of vegetable gardens.

The night scene is even more spectacular. Miles & miles of vegetable gardens are lighted at night, dotting the highland landscape. Viewed from afar, it looks like the UFO is making their base there! A nite drive is a must! Don't forget your camera/videocam.

While you'll save your accomodation cost by staying downhill with us, spend the extra money saved for your holidays uphill. So, gallop to Cameron Highlands during the day & stay with us during the nite. Enquire at ecolife@aol.asia for special rates.
Spectacular nite scene of Ringlet, resembling a UFO base!

The well-lit vegetable green houses that contributes to the fairy tale-like landscape of Ringlet by night.

Main street Tanah Rata. 15 mins downhill is Ringlet. Another 20 mins drive uphill is Brinchang.

Don't forget the ABC!

If you are visiting Sungai Koyan in Kuala Lipis -15 mins drive from Ecolife basecamp - try the mouth-watering Air Batu Campur, or ABC for short. The shaved ice is mixed deliciously with syrup, sugar, milk, cendol, maize, kacang merah (red nuts), 2 scoops of ice cream, plus other delightful ingredients - for a mere RM2.00! It cost at least double that in town (and that too with a single scoop of ice cream). The stall is located next to the Mobil station & sells local Malay delicacies as well for tea, including Tapai Beras & Char Koay.

ABC - perfect, anytime of the day.

Farmer's Market in Sungai Koyan.

If you are staying at Ecolife basecamp, don't forget to visit the farmer's market (Pasar Tani) held every Tuesday & Wednesday of every week. It is only a 15-min drive from the basecamp. For a small town, it is pretty big - about half a kilometre long! It sells almost everything you'll ever need.

People came from far & near to the market. Chicken are sold out before 10am.

Wet or dry groceries, the selection is admirable for a small FELDA town.

A variety of bananas, and at prices only 1/3 of that in K.L.

The farmer's market also lines up the town & junction leading to K.Lipis.

A lot of the traders came from as far as Kelantan

In Post Betau, it's every Tuesdays and in Kuala Medang, about 3km from Sungai Koyan, it is every Thursdays. So, in a week, there's 4 pasar tani being held every week in the Pos Betau-Sg Koyan-Kuala Medang area, all within a 15-min drive from Pos Betau.

Chinese New Year guests

New year brought repeated guest & new guest alike at Ecolife basecamp in Pos Betau. Latest was 4 families, including the family of Denise from Scotland. The guests rode on bamboo rafts, took a dip in the cool Sg Betau, witnessed synchronised diving by Semai kids from a nearby bridge, visited a Semai family, did the river float, savour the dishes, went fishing and had a karoke session in the evening. Some took a 45-min trip to Ringlet from the basecamp to finish the holidays.
